As predicted, we woke up in the shelter this morning with a perfect view of the sunrise over the water. It was a warm night, and I think I had my best night of sleep so far on the trail.
It was a slow morning as we all got ready for our first day of hiking in the Smoky Mountains. I did some stretching and brushed and braided my hair. I was warned by one of the girls that there was a dead rat in the ladies’ bathroom this morning. …
