Day 47: Zero in Kennedy Meadows.
At the USFS campground, I slept in until 7:30 when the sun’s rays were fully coming through my tent vestibule. A few of us rode in the back of Jake’s truck on the way to Grumpy Bear’s, a bar and restaurant known for their giant pancake breakfast. The vibes were off — the staff acted true to their namesake — but they had free camping, laundry, and showers for hikers as long as you decided to camp there. …
