Yesterday, I met up with my husband who had driven over to join me for my birthday. We stayed at the Hand Hotel in Chirk. There has been some kind of Inn here for about 400 years, though the present one is only from the mid 19th century. The name comes from a local legend about the inheritance of the lands and property of nearby Chirk Castle. It is said that the dying Lord challenged his sons to race for the inheritance. …
