Today was a nero, and I only hiked about 5 miles to Newfound Gap early this morning. A free church shuttle was arriving at 10 AM to drive hikers into Gatlinburg for a resupply.
All Downhill
We were literally at the highest point on the AT yesterday afternoon. So I wasn’t surprised that hiking to the gap was mostly downhill and seamless. I left camp earlier than most and chased the sunrise that peeked through the trees. …
