This morning, the hostel owner shuttled me back to Mooney Gap at 7 AM. We were driving on the forest roads at sunrise, and it was beautiful to watch the light begin to spread over the mountain tops. I was sad to be returning to the trail without my friend, but I was also hopeful about the day to come.
