My day off from walking has happened, so today is back to Wat and his Dyke path. The photo above looks like a hill but actually shows Oswestry iron age hill fort. This is a huge structure, with layers and layers of earth ramparts, all built by hand almost 3,000 years ago. It would take at least 40 minutes to walk around the perimeter. Iron age folk lived there, fought there and took refuge there for 800 years until the Romans took over in the mid 1st century. …
