I awoke to a beautiful sunrise on what would turn out to be a difficult day. We knew there would be big climbs leaving the NOC, but it felt like the entire day was one long struggle.
For almost 13 miles today, we climbed. There were some stretches where the trail went downhill or leveled out, but by and large, we climbed. But almost as if the universe knew we’d be struggling, we were sent some very cool wildlife to break up the monotony. …
