10 Things That Surprised Me During My First State on the AT

As I finish up the miles in Georgia, I want to summarize the parts of my hike that were unexpected. Hopefully this will help other thru-hikers prepare for their journeys.
1. Rolling Terrain
The trail is far more rolling and less mountainous than I expected. In the Northeast, hikes often start flat before a long, steep climb to a summit.
