The 2026 Transvulcania festival of races is taking place on the island of La Palma in Spain’s Canary Islands, from Thursday, May 7, through Saturday, May 9. iRunFar is excited to be on La Palma helping to document the races’s stories!

The festival kicks off on Thursday, May 7, with the Vertical Kilometer, taking place at 5 p.m. Western European Summer Time, which is 10 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time in the U.S. For the first time, this race is part of the 2026 Mountain Running World Cup!
Two days later, on Saturday, May 9, the Ultramarathon starts at 6 a.m. local time, which is 11 p.m. Friday, May 9, U.S. Mountain Daylight Time.
On the same day, the Half Marathon begins at 7:30 a.m. local time, or 12:30 a.m. U.S. Mountain Daylight Time. This race is also part of this year’s Mountain Running World Cup.
