The Bartram Trail: 112 Miles of Southern Appalachian Solitude

he Bartram Trail travels through the Chattahoochee National Forest in Georgia and into the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. Named after William Bartram, the trail follows the approximate route the 18th-century naturalist followed in 1770s while studying the plants and wildlife of the region.
Spanning 112 miles, the Bartram Trail offers everything you would expect to find in the Southern Appalachians except for crowds.
