Another good night of sleep at Gooch Mountain Shelter. I woke up warm in my tent at around 7 AM. Over breakfast and coffee, many of the hikers finalized their mileage plans for the day. There had been much debate the night before on the logistics of the next two campsites.

If we chose to hike 8.1 miles from Gooch Mountain Shelter to Lance Creek Campsite, then we would end the night with a reliable water source but would be 7.4 miles from our resupply the next day at Mountain Crossings in Neel Gap. …
