Day 22: Fly, fly away!
The biting flies were out today. These flies look just like an innocuous house fly, but they bite with the sting of a horse fly. I’ve encountered them before the PCT but not with such ferocity. Today’s hike was a consistent 20 mile uphill. The grade wasn’t too bad, around 8%, but it meant I needed to go slowly, to grind uphill at a consistent low rate. That’s perfect for the flies. …
