Today I entered the Great Smokey Mountains National Patk! This is going to be a tough five day stretch from here to Hot Springs, NC.

I started from the Fontana Shelter before dawn, and headed into the Smokies. The Shuckstack fire tower provided amazing views.
In the afternoon, it started to rain slightly. I still got excellent views from Rocky Top. I stopped today at Derrick Knob shelter. A ridge runner I talked to at Rocky Top told me that the shelter was booked on paper, …
