After passing a slightly austere night in the pilgrims hostel (no heating) I was hoping to visit St Buenos well, before breakfast. It’s in the woodland across the road. Sadly, the guardians of St Winifrede’s well told me that St Buenos is totally inaccessible because storms have blown down so many trees, also eroding and damaging the steps. They are seeking funds to fully restore the access … I wished them all the best with that worthy project. …
